Artwork “ Immortal landscape : Fountain” < Exhibition and collection at Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University >

The work "Immortal landscape: Fountain" by Towa Takaya has been accepted into the collection of Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University (APU). An unveiling ceremony was held at the university on 26 June 2025.
This piece was created during a residency in Beppu, Japan.
In his pursuit of the experience of nature, Jinen, Eien Takaya visited Beppu and experienced the land's overwhelming energy : geothermal heat and erupting springs. This piece was created after that experience, and the mud collected from the naturally gushing Blood Pond Hell has been refined to create the colour of the
paint.
At a time of fragmentation, climate change, and the accelerating development of AI technology, Towa Takaya dares to reconnect with nature and its phenomena.
Through her dialogue with materials, she continues to create works that preserve the 'memory of the land' and 'traces of life' inherent in the materials themselves.
This work represents Takaya's self-made paints, which are made from soil, plants, and pigments derived from cosmetics. This process is an attempt to reconnect his body with the world through art, and it is a way of rethinking the relationship between 'materials' and 'physicality'.
The resulting piece, Immortal landscape: Fountain , explores the theme of nature (jinen) as 'something invisible to the eye yet certainly existing', offering viewers an immersive experience that makes them feel part of the great cycle of nature.
